Remark Ledoyer (1986) described Melphisana madagascarensis from Tuléar and and designated a holotype. Unfortunately publication of this work was much delayed and the first reference to the species appeared in Ledoyer (1984). Ledoyer (1984) described and illustrated material from New Caledonia as Melphisana madagascarensis n. sp., but he confirmed that the holotype of the species was the one designated in the delayed Madagascar monograph. He also designated a paratype based on New Caledonian material [details]
