Diagnosis Shell, viewed from the side, subquadrate, higher in front than behind; height equal to a little more than half the length. Anterior end broad and boldly rounded, and bearing a variable number of small fringed spines; posterior imperfectly rounded, its lower half slightly produced and bearing about six blunt marginal teeth; dorsal margin prominent over the anterior hinge, thence sloping gently backwards with a slight sinuosity, and rounded at its junction with the posterior end, ventral almost perfectly straight.
