Type species The type species by original designation is Aeolidiella indica Bergh, 1888, which Miller (2001) understood in a broad sense following in this Gosliner and Griffiths (1981), Carmona et al. (2013) have shown that the name Aeolidiella indica has been used for a complex of several species, of which the species illustrated by Miller (2001) would be Aeolidiella foulisi (Angas, 1864) = A. cacaotica (Stimpson, 1855). In a restricted sense, Aeolidiella indica is a species described from Mauritius which differs chromatically from those usually reported under that name, and has apparently not been reported again from the type locality (L. Carmona and L. Cervera, pers. comm.). Therefore, the type species designation is relevant to article 70 of ICZN. [details]
