Description Description: Test small, ellipsoidal to fusiform. Relatively large proloculus; no juvenarium; septa planar to slightly folded in the poles. Wall keriothecal and tectum. Central aperture with tunnel and asymmetrical chomata.
Occurrence: Desmoinesian/Missourian boundary interval to Wolfcampian of the USA; Middle Asselian–Early Bolorian of Darvaz, Uzbekistan (Leven et al., 1992); Yakhtashian of South China (Huang, 1984; Rui & Hou, 1987) and Afghanistan (Leven, 1997 as Biwaella shiroishiensis and B. tumefacta). Artinskian of Croatia (?Kochansky-Devidé, 1955; Kochansky-Devidé & Milanov ić, 1962). Sakmarian of Japan and Montenegro (Loeblich & Tappan, 1987).

Diagnosis Test small, inflated, ellipsoidal to fusiform, relatively large proloculus followed by about six loosely coiled volutions, septa thick, unfluted throughout; wall thick, of tectum and thick keriotheca, with very finely porous upper keriotheca and coarsely alveolar lower keriotheca, septal wall of tectum and an extension of the keriotheca from the chambers on both sides, single tunnel with straight to irregular path, low and narrow chomata in the first whorl, and high, broad, and asymmetrical chomata in later whorls that are continuous with the coatings on the chamber floor and merge with the axial fillings. L. Permian (Sakmarian), Wolfcampian; USA: Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Nevada; Japan; Yugoslavia: Montenegro.
