Description Diagnosis: Test medium-sized (up to 5 mm in diameter), inflated fusiform to fusiform, with rounded periphery. Proloculus spherical. Micro- and mesospheric generations known. Inner volutions tightly coiled but no individualized juvenarium. Chomata generally massive and high. Tunnel relatively regular in path. Septa plane, more or less fluted in polar ends. Septal pores rare but eventually present. Wall characteristic but variable: inner wall can exhibit an ancestral diaphanotheca, generally a tectum with an inner layer grey, rather thick and finely porous, outer wall finely keriothecal in the advanced species.
Occurrence: All the northern borders of the Palaeotethys from northern Spain to Darvaz, South China (Hubei, Hunan, eastern Yunnan), North China, Thailand and Primorye. Palaeopacific terranes of Japan (Akiyoshi). Ural Ocean (Timan Petchora) until Greenland and northern Alaska. Very rare in the North-American craton (Wahlman et al., 1997). Discovered in the Tavas Nappe (Lycian Nappes, SW Turkey, this study). Latest Moscovian-middle Kasimovian.

Diagnosis Test fusiform to ellipsoidal, planispiral, with constant axis of coiling, septa plane to moderately fluted in the axial region; wall of early whorls with four layers, outer whorls with three-layered wall, a tectum, protheca and very thin outer tectorium, chomata massive and asymmetrical, bordering the rapidly widening tunnel. U. Carboniferous (Kasimovian); USSR: Russian Platform, Urals, Don bass, Timan; Japan; N. China. (Loeblich & Tappan, 1987, Foraminiferal Genera and Their Classification) [details]
