Status When proposing the nomen novum M. cassiani for C. klipsteini Desor, 1855 non Agassiz & Desor, 1847b, Bather (1909) had overlooked that Desor (1858) already had proposed Cidaris ampla as replacement name in the Addendum to his Synopsis. Thus Bather's species is a objective junior synonym of C. ampla. [details]
