Status This generic name is based on a completely jumbled misspelling of the name "Spatangus loncophorus Meneghini" (originally established in Desor, 1858) as "Concophorus Meneghinii" attributed to Desor as author and is a nomen nudum. Later this mistake has led to even further invalid generic names, namely Loncophorus and Lonchophorus (both not intentionally established, and junior homonyms of coleopteran genera).
