From editor or global species database
Authority Originally attributed to Val. [= Valenciennes], which apparently is based on a museum label. Agassiz (1872-74: p. 45) and Mortensen (1943: p. 177) attributed the species to Deslongchamps, 1824. The first use of the name is in the plate descriptions of the "Tableau Encyclopédique et méthodique..." (Bruguière et al., 1826); the author responsible for these plates seems to be Bory de Staint Vincent, which thus should be regarded as the author of the species. [details]
