Status The absence/presence of fascioles as sole criterium is a problematic character, since fascioles are often present in juveniles, but lost in adults. Additionally, there is quite some intrageneric variability in this character.
Application of this subfamily as diagnosed by Lambert (1905) would result in a para- and/or polyphyletic group. [details]
