Homonymy Aphroditella Roule, 1898 is junior to Aphroditella Lendenfeld 1887 in Porifera. Aphroditella Roule is an unreplaced, homonym, probably because it is regarded as a synonym of Aphrodita, eg., by Pettibone (1966)  [details]

Synonymy Pettibone (1966:97) reported (correctly) that the type species of Aphroditella Roule was a young form of Aphrodita aculeata according to Fauvel, 1923. Fauvel gives no indication how he decided this. [details]
