A new small hesionid, Mahesia ammophila, new genus, new species, is described from sand sediments of a coral reef hat of the Seychelles island Mahe. A unique combination of characters (e.g., median antenna frontally inserted, exclusively capillary notochaetae, proboscis without distinct papillae) clearly distinguish this new genus and species from other hesionid taxa.
