Two calonoid copepods, Acartia ortaniformes and Labidocera euchaeta collected from the Karnafully river estuary, Bangladesh, were studied. Acartia tortaniformes showed marked affinities on the one hand to the genus Acartia and on the other hand, to the genus Tortanus. In the present species the furcal rami are asymmetrical. The right furcal ramus of female is slightly longer than the left one, but the right furcal ramus of male is much longer than the left one. Further, the anal segment bears a peculiar 'V' shaped twist which is absent in Acartia.
