Taxonomy The last revision of this species (Santodomingo & Becking, 2018) consider that this species has 8 synonyms (merguiensis, ternatensis, amboinensis, violacea, rubra, cineriformis, eccentrica, lipotriaena). However the Kieschnick types of ternatensis, amboinensis, violacea and rubra were not examined. Meanwhile, molecular data (Szitenberg et al., 2013; Schuster et al., 2017) show there at least 2 species under that name (RMNH POR 11300 from Indonesia is clearly a different species). [details]
