Cuba's Mesophotic Reef Sponge Guide

A visual guide of  230 morphospecies inhabiting mesophotic coral reefs around Cuban Coastline is presented. Only 117 taxa are determined till species. Approximately 17 taxa, among 100 species collected, are estimated to be new species. Diagnostic external characters are provided to aid in the differentiation of this unique fauna. The display of Mesophotic Sponge fauna  diversity, here presented,  is unprecedented for the Caribbean Region. This guide is an on-going project intended to aid in the ecological interpretation of thousand of images and videos.
