Diagnosis Proceraea with bright yellow-orange, swollen, dorsal cirri alternating with thinner, shorter, brown dorsal cirri, and trepan with 18 tricuspid teeth, alternating in one ring. [details]
Diet Feeds on the scleractinian coral Montastrea cavernosa Linnaeus, 1767 in coral reefs. [details]
Distribution Caribbean Sea: Gran Cayman Island. Known only from the type locality. [details]
Etymology Proceraea janetae is dedicated to Janet Kramer Kaufman (Louisville, Kentucky, USA), beloved aunt of Cynthia Abgarian, co-collector and co-author of the species, as a recognition for instilling a sense of discovery, adventure and exploration to her niece, and as a special gift on the occasion of her 90th birthday. Habitat Proceraea janetae lives in shallow tropical waters (around 25ºC) down to 18m depth, on coral reefs with Montastrea cavernosa Linnaeus, 1767. [details]
