Diagnosis: Unique in having compound chaetae with elongated blades, short spines on margin and minute, spine-like proximal teeth. Only E. longicirrata Imajima, 1966, from Japan, has similar chaetae. However, it has chaetae about twice longer, much longer dorsal cirri, two to five times longer than body width, digitiform ventral cirri (triangular in the new species), and palps totally separated [details]

Spelling: Publication misspells the species epithet as 'grandmarie' in abstract and Table 1. [details]
Type locality: Monterey Submarine Canyon, California, U.S.A. on whale carcass, 36.802 N, 121.994 W [not 38.802 N 122.994ºW as in Brusa et al] [details]
