Diagnosis Unique in having compound chaetae with elongated blades, short spines on margin and minute, spine-like proximal teeth. Only E. longicirrata Imajima, 1966, from Japan, has similar chaetae. However, it has chaetae about twice longer, much longer dorsal cirri, two to five times longer than body width, digitiform ventral cirri (triangular in the new species), and palps totally separated [details]
Distribution Monterey Bay, California, USA, North Pacific Ocean. Known only from the type locality. [details]
Etymology Named for Maria Brusa, the first author’s late grandmother. [details]
Habitat Recorded on a juvenile whale carcass (Eschrichtius robustus) located at 633 m depth, sunk on purpose for scientific studies. [details]
Spelling Publication misspells the species epithet as 'grandmarie' in abstract and Table 1. [details]
