Homonymy Nereis gracilis Hansen, 1882 is a senior primary homonym to Nereis gracilis Webster, 1884 [details]
Synonymy Evidently first referred to Platynereis and P. dumerilii by Augener (1934) because of Platynereis-like paragnaths. Possibly it is a valid local Platynereis species, or a synonym of a species other than P. dumerilii, wrongly regarded as cosmopolitan in earlier times. [details]
Type locality Bay of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Atlantic Ocean [details]
