From editor or global species database
Editor's comment based on the examination of material from the Gulf of Eilath, erroneously identified as S. gardineri by Fauvel (1957), ten Hove (1970) synonymized this species with S. corniculatus. However, Pixell's material clearly is a species by its own. A similar species is Spirobranchus richardsmithi Pillai, 2009  [details]
