Nomenclature Hartman used Ceratocephala in 1960 for the basionym, and (without comment) switched to Ceratocephale in 1968. This is the source of some confusion, and some authors have simply not reported alternative spellings in their synonymies. The two spellings have been treated as separate genera, with Ceratocephale the original spelling (see Banse, 1977, although he too ignores the original spelling). It seems best to treat 'Ceratocephala' just as a misspelling. [details]
