Distribution Philippine Islands (Bohol Island, Ubay). [details]
Editor's comment Licher (1999: 307-308) revised the type material deposited at the MPW, considering it to be a nomen dubium due to its poor condition. However it was possible to observe that the chaetae were typical of the genus Haplosyllis. Grube (1878: plate VII figs. 4, 4a) gives three drawings of the species, including a dorsal view of the anterior region and two composed spiniger chaetae. These chaetae are not typical of the genus Haplosyllis, and it is possible that there was an error in the numeration of figure 4a, or a misinterpretation by Grube. Grube also studied a second specimen with natatorial chaetae, but once again these chaetae are not composed. [details]
Etymology The specific epithet singulisetis is a new Latin word composed of singulus, meaning 'single', and seta, meaning 'hair', and refers to the single bidentate chaeta that is present on each parapodia of the species. [details]
Habitat Unknown. [details]
Taxonomy Licher (1999) considered the species as nomen dubium. The holotype is in poor condition, with the soft tissues desintegrating, being the chaetae almost the only remaining visible part of the specimen. According to the same author the species belongs to the genus Haplosyllis, having one single chaetae per parapodium with the typical bidentate tip of the genus. The poor condition of the type material does not enable a redescription, and the species was consequently considered as nomen dubium. [details]
