Taxonomic remark According to Licher et al. (1995) and Licher (1999), the paratypes USNM 75308 and USNM 75312 of Syllis ortizi San Martín, 1992 represent in fact the species Typosyllis magnipectinis (Storch, 1867). According to the same authors the two species can be easily distinguished with base on the length of the blades of the modified falcigers in relation to those in the longest normal falcigers, in each parapodium: in Typosyllis magnipectinis they would be much longer, while in Syllis ortizi the blades of the modified falcigers would be shorter than the longest normal ones.  [details]
