Etymology Not stated. However, Axel Wiren (1860-1925, thus not a contemporary of Caullery) had produced a work on the morphology of Ampharetidae, thus Caullery may have been thinking of this connection. Unfortunately, Hessle had also apparently commemorated Wiren years earlier in a different genus, and now the two species names are homonyms. [details]
