It could refer to the presence of well developed dorsal crests from chaetiger 10 through chaetiger 60, or to the pre- and postchaetal notopodial lamellae of anterior parapodia being dorsally fused with each other, forming an envelope surrounding notochaetae (maybe resembling the wings of angels?), but the etymology is uncertain.
