Homonymy Nereis scolopendroides Hansen, 1882 is an unreplaced junior primary homonym to Nereis scolopendroides Delle Chaije, 1827 (now a synonym of Nephtys hombergii) [details]
Status Augener (1934: 133) examined the two specimens of Hansen 1882 and places one as a Nereis riisei and the other as similar to Perinereis bairdi. Thus, as well as being an unreplaced junior primary homonym, Nereis scolopendroides Hansen is of unresolved identity. Under ICZN Code article 17 (mixed taxa) it is still an available name. As well as requiring a new name the specimens of N. scolopendroides need to be re-examined to determine if validity of one of them is possible. Thus the name is a Nomen dubium. [details]
