Etymology The species is named after Prof. Giuseppe Cognetti, "for his distinguished work in the field of polychaetes and in particular of the family Syllidae" (Castelli et al., 1987: 156). [details]

Type locality Mediterranean Sea, Northern Corsica, Bay of Calvi (geocoordinates not provided, estimated with gazetteer to be approximately lat. 42.58º, long. 8.73º). [details]
