Etymology The specific epithet heterochaetus is composed by the prefix of Greek origin hetero-, meaning 'other', 'another' or 'different', and the Latin word chaetus, form of chaeta and meaning 'bristle' or 'seta', and presumably refers to the different types of chaetae present in the species, and especially to the acicular neuropodial hook with enlarged tip present on segment 14.
