Etymology The specific epithet aciculigerus means 'bearing aciculae', and is composed by the Latin prefix acicul-, from the Latin noun acicula and meaning 'needle' or 'small pin', and the suffix gerus, from the Latin verb gero and meaning 'to bear' or 'to carry', and seems to refer to the three to six acicula per parapodium the species presents on segment 14.
