Etymology Author: "Amacrodorum derives from Latin, A, meaning without, macro, meaning large, and dorum, meaning dorsal surface, referring to the absence of dorsal macrotubercles. Gender: Feminine [lapsus?]." Note 'dorum' is an apparent misspelling by Örsted, 1843 of dorsum (neuter noun), and strictly is meaningless. Amacrodorum is actually neuter, not feminine, as is also apparent from the neuter gender ending of the Amacrodorum type species adjectival name of 'bipapillatum'. [details]
Grammatical gender Amacrodorum is neuter, not feminine (lapsus in Kudenov?) [details]
