Checked: verified by a taxonomic editorNomenclature Lamarck (1818:330-331) included five species in his Pleione, three now in Amphinome, one in Eurythoe, one in Hermodice, thus as multiple species were included the type species is not known from the original work. A type species may not have been named subsequently, making it difficult to confirm the synonymy can be assigned to Amphinome. Hartman catalogue does not indicate a type species but assigns the genus to Amphinome, presumably following earlier work. For instance Grube, 1850 places Lamarck's two new taxa, P. alcyonia, P. eolides, and also P. vagans Savigny, 1822 in Amphinome. Note that Pleione is also a genus in Plantae (Don, 1825, Orchidaceae). [details]

Checked: verified by a taxonomic editorSynonymy Lamarck and Savigny used Pleione, presumably arising first in the Savigny unpublished MS, instead of Amphinome, although Amphinome is obviously senior. Neither use Amphinome as a genus, although referring to the group as les Amphinomes, Amphinomae [details]
