Etymology Not stated. The specific epithet caroli is a replacement name for the homonym Macrochaeta bansei Hartmann-Schröder, 1974, from northern North Sea, a species named in honour of Dr. Karl Banse. Presumably the new name is also given in honour of Dr. Karl Banse, being caroli the genitive of 'Carolus', the latinisation of 'Karl'. [details]
