Fiege, D.; Barnich, R.The holorype of Eupolyodontes gulo (Grube, 1855) (Polychaeta: Acoetidae) was recently rediscov- ered in the collections of the Senckenberg Museum. As parts of the original description by Grube and the single figure provided are not sufficiently detailed, the holotype is redescribed, Examina- tion of the holotype of E. gulo revealed some important characters making a partial revision of the genus Eupolyodontes Buchanan, 1894 necessary. The re-examination of all known specimens of E. gulo, E. cornishii Buchanan, 1894 and E. mitsukuni (Izuka, 1904) leads to a re-evaluation of the dis- tinguishing characters. As no specific differences could be found, E. cornishii and E. mitsukurii are considered to be synonyms of E. gulo.
