Notes  Description: Coloration: aboral disc colour green to brownish, with some variegation, with a dark spot near the distal end of each radial shield; oral disc colour dirty grey. Description: five arms, three to four times the disc diameter. Disc scales naked (with pointed spinelets in Sastry (1995)). Radial shields half of the disc radius or less, not contiguously in contact. Oral shields broader than long, rounded spear-head, with a distal lobe. Adoral plates meet radially. Single small oral papillae (two distal lateral papillae, no infradental papillae in Sastry (1995)). Aboral arm plates twice as broad as long, fan-shaped, rounded lateral angles. Oral arm plates broader than long, bell-shaped, in contact with the next plate. Aboral side of the arms cross-banded every few segments, oral side lighter, sometimes somewhat banded. One large oval tentacle scale. Four arm spines, but five on the more proximal arm segments in large specimens, as long as the segment. Habitat: among blocks of dead coral at the base of reefs, in about 30 ft. of water. (Balinsky, 1957); fine sandy habitats (Sastry, 1995).
Also distributed in India (West Bengal) and Mozambique (Sastry, 1995). [details]
