Taxonomy In order not to perpetuate a persistent error in the literature, the taxon Palaumysinae is established
here at subfamily rank as a new replacement name for the Mancomysinae, first installed at tribe rank
as Mancomysini by Bacescu and Iliffe (1986). According to article 11.7.1.1. of the nomenclatorial
code, a family group name is to be formed from the stem of an available generic name (ICZN 1999).
A genus "Mancomysis" has never been established, therefore the family group taxon Mancomysini
Bacescu et Iliffe, 1986, and its nominal derivates are to be replaced by derivates of the name of the
type genus Palaumysis Bacescu et Iliffe, 1986, by present designation (Wittmann, 2013) [details]
