A problem is that two definitions for biodiversity hotspots are given (high biodiversity value and many endemic species) which have to be under threat. Then a conclusion is drawn that these habitats have to be protected (leaving the rest of the world unprotected??). Locally hotspots are defined by species richness only. This article warrants further working out, giving good definitios and discussing advantages and disadvantages of each
