Description Naked, medium-sized (40–60 μm in length) flagellate. Cells variable in shape (globular to oval or oblong). Two unequal flagella emerging from the cell anterior. Many chloroplasts, yellowish brown, discoid, lacking a pyrenoid. Nucleus spheroidal and located centrally or anteriorly in the cell. Mucocysts round and protruded from the cell periphery, giving the cells a warty appearance (Chang et al., 2012).
