The Chihsia Limestone of the Lengwu district in Tonglu County, Zhejiang Province with a total thickness of about 233m is mainly composed of dark mediumor thick-bedded to massive limestone with cherty nodules and siliceous limestone intercalated with some siliceous beds. At the bottom of the Chihsia Limestone there has been found dark grey medium-bedded calc-siliceous rock intercalated with siliceous shales containing Fenestella, Fistulipora and brachiopods. It is underlain by the Chuanshan Limestone yielding Sphaeroschwagerina and Eoparafusulina with a conformity, and overlain by the Dingjiashan Formation with a disconformity. The fusulinids described and illustrated here comprise 37 species in 19 genera, including one new species Praesumatrina tongluensis Wang et Tang sp. nov. Based on fusulinids, the Chihsia Limestone can be divided into two fusulinid zones in descending order as follows:1. The Miseltina claudiae zone, which is characterized by the presence of Misellina claudiae (Deprat) in association with Schubertella, Mufushanella, Nankinella, Pseudoendothyra, etc.2. The Cancellina neoschwagerinoides-Parafusulina multiseptata assemblage zone, which is characterized by the presence of Cancella, Praesumatrina, Verbeekina, Pseudodoliolina and Parafusulina multiseptata (Schellwien)or Schwagerina chihsia- ensis Lee, associated with Codonofusiella plana Wang J. H. , C. primigenia Zhang et Wang J. H., Nankinella inflata (Colani), N. orbicularia Lee, N. hunanensis (Chen), N. lengwuensis Lin, N. daaoensis Zhou et Zhang, Sphaerulina crassispira Lee, Pisolina excessa Lee, P. multivoluta Wang J. H. , P. subsphaerica Sheng, Maklaya sp. , Parafusulina undulata Chen, P. kiangsuensis Chen, P. dalianshanensis Wang J. H., etc.Recent investigations show that the proposed boundary line between the Chihsian and Maokouian Stages should be drawn above the Misellina claudine zone and below the Cancellina neoschwagerinoides-Parafusulina multiseptata assemblage zone.
