Description Drobne, K.; Ogorelec, B.; Riccamboni, R. (2007). Bangiana hanseni n.gen. n. sp. (Foraminifera) an index fossil species of. Danian age (Lower Paleocene) from the Adriatic Carbonate Platform (SW Slovenia, NE Italy, Herzegovina). Razprave IV. Razreda SAZU. 48 (1): 5-71.
page(s): p. 20. pl. 3 (holotype pl. 3, fig. 1):
Sections approximately perpendicular to the equatorial plane, from Dolenja Vas West (Dv W) or Dolenja Vas East (Dv E). Fig. 1. Holotype. Axial section of large specimen with two and a half whorls, bilamellar thick wall, coarse pores and a lobate periphery (per) of the inflated chambers. Note the bilamellar walls that cover the umbilicus, the folia (fo) with their planar extensions (pe). The proloculus (pr) followed by the nepionic stage exhibit thicker walls and a tighter spiral as compared to the adult. Dv E 44/2 – 5067. Fig. 2. Large specimen, axial section showing the chambers of the last whorl to be wider than high, three and a half whorls, a megalosphere and a deuteroconch (pr, d). The embryonic whorls are coiled out of the adult axis (cax). Note in the last chamber the extension of the lateral wall as folium (fo). Dv W +2/1708. Fig. 3. Small specimen with an extremely flattened shell, bilamellar walls, fine pores and reduced extensions of the folia (fo) covering the umbilicus. Dv E 44/2- 5067. Fig. 4. Medium-sized specimen with 2 whorls, compact megalosphere and deuterochonch (pr, d). Dv E 44/6 – 9096. Fig. 5. Medium-sized specimen with 3 whorls, thin walls and distinct pores. Note on the lateral side of the last chamber the extended walls forming the folia (fo). Dv W -3/ 6597. Fig. 6. Large, probably microspheric specimen with thick bilamellar walls and a tightly coiled embryonic stage inclined in respect to the adult coiling axis (cax). Note on the lower right hand side of the section, at the base of the chamber, the intersection of the umbilical plate (up). Dv E VI/7b – 11466. Fig. 7. The largest specimen of the collection in an oblique section that is inclined for at least 40° to the coiling axis. Early whorl recrystallized. Note the umbilical plate (up) at the base of the last chamber on the left side. Dv W +1/6584. Fig. 8. Large specimen in an oblique, off-centered section. Note the umbilical plate (up) separating the foliar chamberlet from the main chamber lumen. Dv W -3/6597. Fig. 9. Preserved inner part of a decorticated shell that documents early umbilical covers, the folia (fo), in the microspheric generation. Dv W -3/6597.
