Grammatical gender All the Siboglinidae genera ending in -linum are neuter. Latin Linum is a neuter noun meaning thread (secondarily derived from the word for the flax plant). There are two Sclerolinum species names formed as neuter adjectives. Three other names are genitive nouns. The derivation of Southward's 'major' and 'minor' species names has not yet been checked for the author's comment. The adjectival S. annulatus Xu, Sun, et al, 2022, is here corrected to 'annulatum' for gender agreement [details]
