Taxonomy This family-level taxon was proposed by Kornev & Chertoprud (2008) to accommodate the type genus Heteropsyllus T.Scott, 1894 only, but it was not accepted by Novikov & Sharafutdinova (2021) who considered that Heteropsyllus belonged at the base of the subfamily Hemimesochrinae, within the family Canthocamptidae.
