Taxonomic remark these are remarks from Janet Reid Jan 2024: I think this taxon does not exist and was simply an error by Herrick in Herrick & Turner (1895).

Rehberg (1880, Beitrage zur Kenntnis der Freileben ...), on p. 534 line 7, listed "Canthocamptus dentatus n.sp." - after a long list of Cyclops species. Canthocamptus dentatus was described by Poggenpol, M.Y. 1874. Spisok: Copepoda ....

The only place in H&T's paper that "Cyclops dentatus" is mentioned is in the Index on page 512, as entered on the index card by CB Wilson.
I cannot find any other mention of "Cyclops dentatus" in H&T's paper. How the heck Herrick came to decide that Cyclops dentatus is a synonym of Cyclops helleri & Cyclops clausi is beyond me; there's no other information in the index.

Wilson entered this exactly as Herrick listed it in his index, with no year reference, and listed only H&T as the source.

So I bet that Herrick misread Rehberg's list, substituting Cyclops for Canthocamptus, and later, Wilson faithfully copied Herrick's error on his card.

Therefore, the "Cyclops dentatus Rehberg" as listed in H&T's paper is a nomen nudum or simply an error ("lapsus calamitans") -- by H&T (as "Cyclops dentatus Rehberg").

I cannot guess how the year "1880" came to be added to Cyclops dentatus in the WoRMS database, except that this is the year of Rehberg's paper that H&T cited.

Interestingly, Dussart & Defaye (1985) did not list Cyclops dentatus Rehberg OR Cyclops dentatus Koch in the Repertoire of Cyclopoida. An "oops" on their part.

Is there a card for Cyclops dentatus Koch? I have no idea if this is a valid species either, but probably not. Many of Koch's species are unidentifiable.
