Additional information According to Maria Holynska (7/31/2016)= Cyclops tatricus tatricus Koźmiński, 1927 is a synonym of Cyclops abyssorum tatricus Koźmiński 1927 [no parentheses are needed to the author's name and date; parentheses are justified if the taxon was originally allocated to another genus than it is now]
Based on morphometrics and breeding experiments Ulrich Einsle considered the tatricus-form as a high-mountain lake ecotype (Einsle 1969, 1975, 1996), though he refers to the tatricus-form using trinomial name which is correct for a subspecies rather than ecotype - although some biologists do not make differerence between subspecies and ecotype either.
Anyway, the tatricus-form does not show any geographic separation (an attribute of subspecies) from other forms of the boreo-montane/alpine Cyclops abyssorum (e.g., the prealpinus-form which lives in lakes at lower altitudes), occurring from the Pyrenees to the Carpathians Mts.
