Taxonomy No sooner had Gravier named Thylacoides than he realized a similar name, Thylacodes Agassiz, 1846, had already been used...  
Taxonomy No sooner had Gravier named Thylacoides than he realized a similar name, Thylacodes Agassiz, 1846, had already been used for a mollusk. Gravier then proposed Eurysileniopsis Gravier, 1913 as an objective synonym and replacement, using that name because the genus was similar to Eurysilenium M. Sars, 1870 (he had named his new Thylacoides species after Michael Sars). This substitution was not necessary, as the questioned names are not strictly homonyms.  [details]
