Additional information The genus Parastaurosoma proposed by Avdeev & Avdeev (1975) to contain three species of parasitic copepods was considered by Humes (1982) to be a synonym of Hansens’ (1887) Gastroecus. Furthermore, Avdeev & Avdeev’s (1975: 3) Parastaurosoma kamchaticum was considered by Humes (1982: 100) to be a junior synonym of Gastroecus arcticus Hansen, 1887. Thus, the latter is considered to be a valid name of this species.  [details]
