Description Typical example of juvenile (<20 cm) round skate, often misidentified for winter skate (Leucoraja ocellata). Note the scapular and median thorns, and pale patch between the eyes. Specimen from DFO Quebec research trawl surveys in the northern Gulf of St. Lawrence in 2005.
