Association Associated with Phallusia nigra Savigny, 1816 (Ascidiacea, Ascidiidae), inside galleries excavated in the inner tunic of the host. Type of association: parasitism. [details]

Diagnosis Original diagnosis by Martin et al. (2017: p6 of 25): "Proceraea with simple chaetae in anterior chaetigers, and a trepan with 33 teeth with one outer ring where one large tooth alternates with one medium-sized tricuspid tooth, and one inner ring with small teeth located just behind the large teeth.[details]

Habitat Inside galleries excavated in the tunic of a specimen of Phallusia nigra Savigny, 1816 (Ascidiacea, Ascidiidae), collected at 3-7 m from a shallow fringing reef. [details]

Reproduction "Probably with schizogamy, as several male and female stolons where found in the same galleries as the atokous forms [...]. Stolons were obtained detached from the corresponding stocks. However, they have bayonet and compound chaetae identical to those in the atokous forms, thus strengthening the hypothesis that they belong to Proceraea exoryxae sp. nov."
