Validity Hyatt’s name is not an available name (as it has a fourth name, ICZN art. 45.5). Apart from Von Lendenfeld’s assignment of this to Euspongia oficinalis var. rotunda, there are no other suggestions in the literature. I propose to assign this material from the Bahamas provisionally, but in accordance with Von Lendenfeld’s suggestion, to Spongia (Spongia) tubulifera Lamarck, 1814 as Hyatt stated it was similar to that species, until it has been reexamined. [details]
