Synonymy Considering that Polymorphina (Globuline) ovata d'Orbigny, 1826 and Polymorphina ovata d'Orbigny, 1846 were homonyms, Cushman & Ozawa created a new name Pseudopolymorphina ovalis for the latter.
In 1826, d’Orbigny instaured the genus Polymorphina (pp. 265-267) with four subgenera: Polymorphine (Polymorphina stricto sensu), Guttuline, Globuline and Pyruline. The use of French language for the subgenera seems to have created a misunderstanding about the proper genus to which d’Orbigny assigned his species.
Nevertheless in 1846 d’Orbigny’s taxonomical structure was clear. He elevated several subgenera to the genera level. He put under the family Polymorphinidae (pp. 219-236) five genera: Dimorphina, Guttulina, Globulina, Polymorphina and Virgulina.
In the Prodrome (1852), d'Orbigny quoted and clearly separated both species namely, Globulina ovata and Polymorphina ovata.
There is no real homonymy and the need of creating a new name was not founded. Pseudopolymorphina ovalis [= Guttulina ovalis] is a junior synonym of Polymorphina ovata [= Guttulina ovata].  [details]
