Checked: verified by a taxonomic editorSpelling Dall & Bartsch in Arnold, 1903 consistently spelled the specific name terricula in text, plates and index. Dall & Bartsch (1904) spelled the name turricula and Dall & Bartsch (1909) wrote that terricula was a misprint. However this is an unjustified emendation since ICZN acknowledges misprint only if there is internal evidence from the same work which is not the case.
However ICZN art. 33.2.3.1. states that “when an unjustified emendation is in prevailing usage and is attributed to the original author and date it is deemed to be a justified emendation”. Abbott (1974) among others uses turricula.
