Nomenclature The name is available from Irdale (1931: 206, 232) according to the following articles of ICZN:
13.1. Requirements. To be available, every new name published after 1930 must (...)
13.1.1. be accompanied by a description or definition that states in words characters that are purported to differentiate the taxon, or
13.1.2. be accompanied by a bibliographic reference to such a published statement
13.3. Genus-group names. To be available, every new genus-group name published after 1930 (...) must, in addition to satisfying the provisions of Article 13.1, be accompanied by the fixation of a type species in the original publication.

The first condition (13.1.2) is met with on p. 206 for the species Austropteria saltata, then the statement on p. 232 of A. saltata as type of the new genus can be taken as indicating a combined description of the new genus and species.

If this is not accepted, the name would be dated from Iredale, 1939
